If you said #2, you’re correct! When there’s any kind of penetration through a shingled roof, you want the top section of the flashing to be underneath the shingles and the bottom section on top (like picture #1). In picture #2, water will run down the flashing and eventually run under the shingles and onto the roof structure below. #TheMoreYouKnow
